  • Mr. A. Foster. Chair of Governors. LEA Governor. Graduate Mechanical Engineer working for a large construction services company throughout United Kingdom. I have been Chair of Governors for the last 18 months and a Governor for 4 years. I am married and have two children who have attended Watling Lower School. My subject link governor responsibilities cover Teacher Protection, Special Educational Needs, Technology and Environmental Visits. Term ends October 2006.

  • Mrs. J. Jandu. My name is Jit Jandu. I am originally from Leicester where I was brought up and educated. I studied Applied Biology at Leicester University where I was lucky enough to find my first job working in the Archaeology department. I moved down to Luton in 1985 when I got married and after raising a family, I took on further studies and graduated with a BA(Hons) in Educational Studies in 1999.

My first teaching post was at Watling Lower School as a Registered Graduate Teacher. Initially I taught in Year 3 and did some teaching in Year 4. After 3 years I moved down to Key Stage 1 and have been a Year 2 teacher for a number of years now. I am part of the Senior Management team, Key Stage 1 Coordinator as well as Foundation Coordinator.

My other duties include co-ordinating Science and Design and Technology throughout the school. I moved to Bedfordshire in 1986, married and started a family. I have two children, one of which attended Watling. I decided to pursue an alternative career and gained my City and Guilds in Hairdressing.

Once my children were older I was able consider full-time employment. Having enjoyed my time in the Building trade, and with the experience I had gained I was well placed to accept a position in a high school in Luton as a Caretaker. Following my move to Dunstable, I came to Watling Lower School in 2001.

I have attended many courses and gained qualification in: practical fire safety of the workplace, ladder training, fire extinguisher training, non-wood floor care, wood floor care, crime and vandalism prevention, manual handling, risk management and fire prevention, administration and general personnel issues, health and safety at work (including COSHH regulations and asbestos awareness), and handyperson training. I recently upgraded my Emergency Aid certificate to a full First Aid at Work qualification. In September 2003 I was promoted to the position of Site Agent.

In my spare time I have trained to black belt standard in Tae-Kwon-Do and hold a brown belt in Karate. I am a member at Dunstable Leisure Centre and my family and I enjoy swimming, the gym, badminton and golf.
